Thanks to my time with the Legend of Zelda Cosplay Project, I know a lot about photo editing. I love working on graphic design projects, so when I had the opportunity to do an edit for Armored Heart Cosplay, I was excited to see what I could do with her pictures.
For this particular edit, I turned this nice, but somewhat generic photo…
Into this very thematic (and dramatic) image:
Since this project happened around the time that the Shazam! movie came out, it was a great opportunity for the cosplayer and her team to really showcase and embrace the look and feel of the movie.
The gender-bender cosplay itself was already on point, so I largely left that alone and instead focused on creating the right feel. The movie itself is a blend between epic action and childlike humor, so I decided to set the innocence and wonder on Kirsten’s face amongst the drama of Shazam’s thunderous transformation.
I’ve done this sort of project for cosplayers many times. For example, here is an edit I did where I took @hollandtayloedgney’s Dark Jean Grey cosplay and added the fiery Phoenix Force that often surrounds this character in the comics/movies:
These types of projects are some of my favorites because most well-established cosplayers are actually incredibly nice people and true artists, so it’s really fun to get to help them take their images to the next level.
