When Frostmorn was putting together the setting for a 3rd-party Dungeons and Dragons campaign, they asked me to help them with design work and product development. I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a closet nerd and D&D has been a favorite pastime of mine since I was a kid.
As you can probably imagine, I was more than happy to help out.
This particular campaign setting was incredibly involved. One of the goals was to create a world that felt as real and developed as possible, so we spent hours fleshing out the backstory of the world and building assets like the map below:
The final product was incredibly rich, detailed and professional. In fact, many of Frostmorn’s playtesters commented that the rulebook and player handout looked like they had been created by Wizards of the Coast—the company that creates all of the official Dungeons and Dragons rulebooks.
I’ve always loved world-building and fantasy, so working on this project was a great opportunity to flex my creative muscles and produce something unique, interesting and new. These kinds of projects don’t come along very often, but they rank amongst my favorites.
